Father Marcel, ordained in 2003 in Lagos, Nigeria, served as Personal Secretary to Anthony Cardinal Okogie, the Archbishop of Lagos, as well as the Archdiocesan Secretary and Master of Ceremonies for 7 years. He edited and published a collection of the Cardinal’s works and authored three other books, one containing his own poems.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Benin and a Bachelor of Theology degree from the Pontifical Urban University, Rome. His post-ordination studies brought him to the United States to study and work in different pastoral roles. He holds a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from
Fordham University, a Master’s Degree in Catholic Leadership from Franciscan University, and a Doctoral Degree in Education & Pastoral Psychology from the Catholic Theological Foundation. He has also received his Professional Certification as a Campus Minister with the Catholic Campus Ministry Association.
From 2012-2015 he was Parochial Vicar at St. Charles Borromeo Church in the Archdiocese of New York. Father Marcel has been the Campus Minister at NC A&T, Bennett College, Salem College and the Catholic Chaplain at Wake Forest University from 2015-2024.
Beginning July 2024, he will continue as campus minister at NC A&T and High Point University. Father Marcel, who experienced God’s love from a young age and throughout his life, particularly through
the actions of other priests (both foreign & local) who helped those in need, is now glad to be among university students, spreading that same love and faith.
